Both are crucial processes of mi-\r\ncrobial transformation.\r\nA suspended membrane vibrates with sonic textures re-\r\ncorded through hydrophones—capturing processes of hu-\r\nman and posthuman decomposition and fermentation in\r\nAsturias, Nijmegen, and Bangalore. The artists’ use of fer-\r\nmentation points to how boundaries are negotiated in prac-\r\ntice – like the SCOBY in kombucha, which grows into the\r\nspace we provide, gradually thickening and shaping itself\r\naccording to the limits of its container.\r\nIn laboratories, family homes, and professional kitchens\r\naround the world, the artists collected field recordings of\r\ntraditional fermentation practices and laboratory cultures in\r\norder to interweave them into a composition.",
